World Database on Protected Areas
Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) are the most important places in the world for species and their habitats. By accessing these data through IBAT, commercial users, private industry and other stakeholders can make the best decisions about how to manage land (or waters), where to avoid development and how best to conserve and protect the animals and plants for which sites are so important.
Through a theoretical user journey, this training will explore complementary nature-based tools that are useful for different types of financial transactions, from: 1) understanding how economic sectors depend on nature, 2) to showing how commodity exports are linked to different pressures on nature, 3) to screening for potential biodiversity impacts and opportunities, and 4) to understanding companies’ sustainability performance based on their public disclosures.
